Edge Believed To Be AEW Bound
Edge had his twenty fifth anniversary in WWE last week. He main evented Friday’s SmackDown against Sheamus in what was the final match on his WWE contract. Edge picked up the win, while commentary hyped up that this could be the last time we see Edge in a WWE ring.
Edge To All Elite Wrestling?
But, maybe it’s not because of retirement. PWTorch first reported that Edge presented to WWE what it would take to retain his services, but WWE declined to meet his request. Following this, it sparked belief from those in WWE that Edge is headed to AEW and knew at that time what AEW could offer him (based, perhaps, on conversations with other wrestlers of his star power about AEW pay).
Edge’s former longtime tag team partner and best friend, Christian, is already in AEW having a stellar run next to Luchasaurus. This would be a natural paring for the two to reunite in All Elite Wrestling.
With WWE celebrating the career of Edge last week, and making it very clear on and off screen that it’s unlikely that we see Edge on WWE TV at least in the near future, could we see Edge step foot in a AEW ring?
Nothing is confirmed as of this time, and there’s been no word on an official offer from the AEW side. But, if Edge were to go to AEW, this would be the first time he stepped foot in a company that wasn’t WWE since his last independent wrestling appearance at PCW in 1998. Edge would be a massive get for AEW inside the ring and out.
Edge has made many big media appearances, including being the in Disney+ Series ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians, which premieres on the streaming platform in December. Edge, real name Adam Copeland, has been in the acting scene since his original WWE retirement several years ago. Now, with a massive name and following like Copeland has in and out of the wrestling world, this could be a huge get for AEW on top of a huge weekend coming up this week with AEW All In selling 80+ thousand tickets to the event in Wembley Stadium in London, England.
We’ll update you on the status of Edge potentially joining All Elite Wrestling as more information is available.
