Trick Williams Becomes NXT Champion
NXT Spring Breakin’ kicked off on April 23, with the first week set to feature two title matches. Whilst Roxanne Perez retained the NXT Women’s Championship in her triple threat, the NXT Championship did change hands.
Ilja Dragunov was set to defend his NXT Championship against Trick Williams during the first week show. The two have previously met at NXT Vengeance Day 2024, which took place on February 4, and Dragunov successfully retained.
This was their rematch, and the stakes were high as Williams would be forced to leave NXT if he did not win. The match was a highly competitive one but, at the end of it all, there was a definitive finish.
Williams dominantly won the match, beginning his first reign with the NXT Championship. With the victory, Williams becomes the 30th titleholder.
Dragunov’s reign was 206 days long, making him the eighth-longest reigning holder of the NXT Championship. Following the match, Dragunov presented the title to Williams and the two embraced.
Williams will remain with NXT and will effectively serve as the leader and face of the show.
