Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia will meet in a 140-pound title clash that will headline a DAZN pay-per-view event from the 20,000-capacity Barclays Centre in New York on Saturday, April 20.

Haney will defend his WBC super lightweight title, which he won with a dominant decision over Regis Prograis, for the first time.

Garcia lost in the biggest fight of 2023 against Tank Davis but bounced back with a stoppage of Oscar Duarte in December.

It will be a Golden Boy lead promotion in association with Matchroom Boxing.

The former WBC interim champion was trying to negotiate a fight with Rolly Romero but Romero chose an Isaac Cruz clash instead which led Garcia to go back to negotiations with the former undisputed lightweight king.

Oscar De La Hoya told MMAFighting that Haney-Garcia was in the top 10 biggest fights that he’s promoted – a shortlist which involves Floyd Mayweather and Canelo Alvarez fights.

“Yeah (I think this could do one million buys) easy. I feel great about it.”

Ryan Garcia’s fight with Gervonta Davis generated 1.2m PPV buys on DAZN PPV and Showtime PPV, Haney-Garcia is currently only available on DAZN PPV.

“You’ve got to keep in mind that you have Haney, who is considered like the top guy, top 2/3. The best junior Welterweight.”
