Chev Clarke will take the biggest step up of his career so far.
According to International Boxing News, the 2020 Olympian (7-0, 5 KOs) faces the former European champion Tommy McCarthy on January 27 in Belfast live on DAZN.
McCarthy (20-5, 10 KOs) has been stopped by Richard Riakporhe, Chris Billam-Smith and Michael Cieslak last time out.
The 33-year-old is coming to the latter stage of his career but fans will not quickly forget his fight camp sizzler with Billam-Smith in 2021 where many felt that McCarthy had done enough to get the nod.
Clarke has progressed the quickest out of all of the male Olympians under Matchroom Boxing with the exciting pro dominating a very game Vasil Ducar in September.
‘C4 Chev’ is mandatory for the British title but with Isaac Chamberlain pursuing European Gold against Poland’s Michal Cieslak, Clarke has had to wait to find out what is going on with the Lonsdale belt.
Chev Clarke Will Be Co-Feature
Although some will see Clarke-McCarthy as the natural headliner, unbeaten Belfast welterweight Lewis Crocker (18-0, 10 KOs) will top the Matchroom card with an opponent to be determined.
Crocker took a near-shutout win over Tyrone McKenna in their local derby on the last Belfast show earlier this month and is already set for his next date.
Just one week before, another welterweight, Paddy Donovan, blew away Danny Ball inside four rounds in a performance that caught the eye of Irish fight fans.
With them both boxing under the Matchroom banner, a Donovan-Crocker clash is one day inevitable.
