Adam Smith makes FULL RETURN to boxing as Director of Broadcasting with GBM Sports

After a 29-year stint, the legendary boxing commentator, Adam Smith, departed from his role as ‘Head Of Boxing’ at Sky Sports late last year.

This followed his “brutal” battle with cancer that has seen him away from the sport and his role for more than twelve months.

Luckily though, Smith is now cancer-free.

“New, exciting beginnings and challenges for me after a wonderful, incredible, three-decade journey at the amazing place that is Sky Sports…I am cancer-free and raring to go”, Smith said in a social media post.

Smith has been the lead commentator for Sky Sports’s boxing product for many years and is iconic for his play-by-play of fights such as Joshua-Klitschko.

Adam Smith Back In Action

Eddie Hearn hinted late last year that Smith could make his return with Matchroom/DAZN.

Hearn told Seconds Out “I had lunch with him the other day. One of the greatest commentators in the history of the sport, a great boxing mind. I don’t think he’s going to struggle to find his way back in the sport, maybe with us, maybe with DAZN.”

And although Smith may end up with DAZN, he will make his commentary return on a much smaller scale this week.

Smith will join Ali Drew for the talkSPORT YouTube channel as they broadcast Izzy Asif’s (GBM Sports) latest show this Friday, February 9 in Sheffield.
