Aljamain Sterling To Defend UFC Bantamweight Championship Against Henry Cejudo On May 6th At UFC 288
UFC Bantamweight Champion Aljamain Sterling Will Face Former 2-Division Champion Henry Cejudo At UFC 288
Aljamain Sterling has announced via his youtube channel that his opponent for his third title defense will be, former bantamweight and flyweight champion, Henry Cejudo. This will be Cejudo’s first fight since May 2020 where he defeated Dominick Cruz and proceeded to retire following that victory; at least until now. Aljamain Sterling is coming off his second title defense where he defeated former champion, TJ Dillashaw at UFC 280.
Sterling will be riding an 8-fight winning streak while Cejudo will be looking for his 7th consecutive victory. Both men have very impressive UFC resumes. Sterling has victories over some of the best current bantamweights including, Petr Yan, TJ Dillashaw, and Corey Sandhagen. Cejudo has an incredible resume himself, including winning a UFC championship in two divisions, with victories over Demetrius Johnson, TJ Dillashaw, and Dominick Cruz. Not to mention the Olympic gold medal he won for freestyle wrestling in 2008.
This will be a much-anticipated title match with many questions that will be answered with two of the best bantamweights that have ever done it facing off. We will see just how good Aljamain Sterling is, as he looks to continue to cement his UFC legacy with another title defense. While Cejudo is looking to come out of retirement to prove he is still one of the best of all time, despite the three-year layoff.
