Triple H Confirms WrestleMania 40 Plans On Feb. 9 SmackDown

Triple H appeared on the February 9 SmackDown and confirmed the plans for WrestleMania 40, including Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, and Seth Rollins.

Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes

The past week has seen trepidation and debate over the main event. Particularly, the concern surrounded the case of 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble winner Cody Rhodes.

The February 2 edition of SmackDown saw Rhodes welcome a returning The Rock, potentially giving up his chance at redemption against Roman Reigns. The complexion of the situation did a complete turnaround at the WrestleMania 40 Kickoff Show, which took place on Thursday, February 8.

Despite embracing each other on the previous episode of SmackDown, Rock and Rhodes’ found themselves on opposing sides at the kickoff show. Following a heated confrontation at that event, WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H confirmed that he would appear on this week’s SmackDown to iron out a few issues.

Triple H Confirms WrestleMania 40 Main Event

Triple H, flanked by Raw General Manager Adam Pearce and SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, asserted his position as the main authority in the promotion before confirming the WrestleMania 40 plans.

Rhodes will indeed be challenging Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship in the main event of WrestleMania 40 – that is confirmed and set in stone. Seth Rollins’ World Heavyweight Championship will have a different route.

The general managers confirmed that a combination of 12 superstars from both Raw and SmackDown would compete for a chance to qualify for a slot in the Elimination Chamber match. The winner of that Elimination Chamber match in Perth will ultimately go on to challenge Rollins at WrestleMania 40.
