As first reported by Variety, Muhammad Ali is set to be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2024. Ali is one of the most iconic figures in all of sports, and his impact transcended beyond the boxing ring.
Ali was a three-time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion and Olympic gold medalist. He had an unmatched charisma and confidence, that immediately elevated him into greatness.
Known as ‘The Greatest’, Ali is one of the most recognizable figures in the world, and he even made his presence felt in the world of professional wrestling. In 1976, Ali faced WWE Hall of Famer Antonio Inoki in an exhibition match in Tokyo, Japan.
For the inaugural WrestleMania marquee event in 1984, Ali served as the special guest referee in the main event between Hulk Hogan and Mr. T going up against ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper and ‘Mr. Wonderful’ Paul Orndorff.
Ali passed away in 2016 at the age of 74 but his legacy has continued to live on beyond that. In the world of combat sports, his daughter Laila Ali is a former professional boxer whilst his two grandsons, Nico Ali Walsh and Biaggio Ali Walsh, are actively competing as a boxer and mixed martial artist respectively.
