John Cena To Take On The Bloodline At WWE Fastlane 2023
John Cena and AJ Styles were scheduled to team up to take on The Bloodline’s Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa on the September 22 edition of SmackDown. That ultimately did not happen but the match was set for the Fastlane PLE in early October before the situation became uncertain.
John Cena’s Fate Against The Bloodline At WWE Fastlane 2023 Uncertain
The build-up to the match-up between the tag team of John Cena and AJ Styles going up against The Bloodline’s Jimmy Uso and Solo Sikoa began on the September 15 edition of SmackDown. Over the last week, the match was confirmed and promoted for the September 22 SmackDown, which emanated from Phoenix, Arizona.
The Bloodline’s ‘Special Counsel’ Paul Heyman opposed this, and it seemed that WWE official Adam Pearce would look for a different way forward. He returned with the idea of the tag team match-up at Fastlane instead, which was a more welcomed idea within The Bloodline camp.
Cena and Styles have had a storied journey over the years, often being in competition with each other. At one point, Styles was Cena’s greatest competition in the WWE. Now, upon Cena’s return, the two find themselves aligned with the common goal of teaching The Bloodline a lesson.
John Cena has been consistently appearing on SmackDown and it seems he intends to do so until the Fastlane PLE at least. With the contract signed, the John Cena & AJ Styles vs. The Bloodline clash would have been the first confirmed match for Fastlane but the tag team match is in jeopardy.
This tag team match-up was confirmed to be “one of the main events” for Fastlane, as Pearce confirmed. Although Cena would successfully sign the contract, Styles would fail to make it to the ring as The Bloodline attacked ‘The Phenomenal One’ backstage before he needed to be rushed off in an ambulance.
The Bloodline would, however, make it out to the ring and sign the contract, after laying waste to Cena in the process. With no signature from Cena’s partner, it remains to be seen how this match will play out over the next two weeks. Will Styles make it back in time for the Fastlane? Will someone else step up to be Cena’s partner? Will Cena go into the match alone? The next two weeks will determine it all.
