Dominik Mysterio Regains NXT North American Championship
‘Dirty’ Dominik Mysterio has regained the NXT North American Championship once again, making him a two-time holder of the title now. The October 3 edition of NXT would witness the No Mercy rematch between Trick Williams and Mysterio but, this time, the playing field would be different.
At No Mercy, Mysterio found himself in the unfamiliar situation of being all alone with no assistance from any member of The Judgement Day. The unchartered waters resulted in Mysterio losing the North American title to the persevering Williams.
On the October 2 Raw, Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley made her return and told Mysterio that she had organized a rematch for him – and he had better win. When the time for the rematch came, Ripley was in Mysterio’s corner. Ripley, and the rest of The Judgement Day, proved to be the ace up Mysterio’s sleeve as they would overwhelm the newly-minted champion.
Outnumbered by the entire Judgement Day, Williams ultimately lost the championship, with his reign ending in just three days. This makes Williams’ reign the shortest-recognized of the NXT North American Championship.
