DAZN For Business To Launch In The UK With April 1 Joshua vs Franklin Fight
DAZN For Business Available From March 16 With Linear Channel On Sky TV Set
Sport streaming giant DAZN announced on Thursday, March 9 that they will be launching ‘DAZN For Business‘ in the UK & Ireland ahead of the Anthony Joshua vs Jermaine Franklin fight on April 1 at London’s O2 Arena.
Per DAZN, the pay-per-view event will be available as a linear channel on the venue’s Sky TV device. DAZN did attempt to launch in commercial premises last year but it was near impossible to be shown without being a linear channel on Sky/BT.
Having received their Ofcom broadcasting licence, DAZN 1 and PPV on Sky were confirmed back in February. There are also plans for DAZN to be available on Sky Q via the Amazon Prime platform after a deal between DAZN and Prime earlier this year.
Pricing per Commercial Outlet: Early bird price: £245 excl. VAT. This offer will run till 27th March (€245 excl. VAT in Ireland). Normal price: £295 excl. VAT i.e. 28th March onwards (€295 excl. VAT in Ireland). Signing up for this new service will be possible from 16th March onwards.
Anthony Joshua’s fight with Jermaine Franklin is the first in his new 5-year partnership with DAZN and his first bout off PPV in the United Kingdom in almost eight years, a power move from the global service. AJ is coming off back-to-back losses to Ukrainian Oleksandr Usyk and is looking to rebuild before attempting to become a 3-time Heavyweight champion.
Franklin is best known for his closely contested defeat in November at the hands of Dillian Whyte via a 115-115, 116-112 and 116-112 majority decision. The result was controversial with the majority of fans edging the fight to Franklin but it was Whyte who got the decision.
NoSmokeSport understands that the 29-year-old Americans’ training camp for this bout will take place in Florida, USA under the guidance of his head trainer Jesse Addison.
NoSmokeSport broke the news that Joshua chose the 2017 Ring Magazine trainer of the year, Derrick James to be his new coach. James, who has his gym in Dallas, Texas, is the trainer of unified welterweight titleist, Errol Spence Jr and undisputed super welterweight champion, Jermell Charlo.
