Valentina Shevchenko is set to challenge Alexa Grasso for the UFC Flyweight Championship this Saturday at Noche UFC in the highly anticipated rematch. But, Alexa Grasso is walking around fight week with a custom UFC Championship belt to celebrate Noche UFC and Mexican Independence Day, and Valentina wants it.
Valentina Shevchenko Wants The Custom Championship
Alexa Grasso is only the second UFC fighter to get a custom championship belt next to Yair Rodriguez to celebrate their Mexican heritage. Now, during an interview with ESPN, Valentina Shevchenko was asked if she wins this Saturday, would she win the custom belt, to which she replied; “I think its supposed to be that belt, It’s supposed to be this belt that’s on the game right now, so this is the goal, yes.” Valentina continued; “Definitely, definitely, because I’m here for that, I’m going for that and as I’m saying, Mexican Independence Day is a huge celebration and what is my mindset and what is my goal? Win the belt and celebrate with whole Mexico, It’s their day.”
Surely, Alexa Grasso would have a lot to say about Valentina taking her custom belt, but, first she must win the fight this Saturday at Noche UFC in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is on ESPN+ with a start time of 7PM ET.
