Ian Garry vs. Vincente Luque Set For UFC 296
Another major fight has been added to UFC 296 in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 16th. This past week, it was announced that Leon Edwards vs. Colby Covington will headline the pay-per-view. Soon after, Dana White started to flood out fight announcements for the card and now we have another one.
UFC 296: Ian Garry vs. Vincente Luque
16-0, undefeated Ian Garry is coming off of a win over Neil Magny at UFC 292 back in August. Following the fight, Ian Gray set his sights on Stephen Thompson, who seemingly wasn’t too keen on the idea. We now know Stephen has a fight booked against Shavkat Rahkmonov on the same UFC 296 card. This left up and coming prospect Ian Gray opened. But, he’s now found an opponent in Vincente Luque.
Vincente Luque is a veteran in the game at this point with a record of 22-9-1. He’s coming off of a win over Rafael dos Anjos back in August and he’s ready to climb back up to a Welterweight title opportunity. Luque, who has 13 finishes in the Welterweight division, which is the second-most ever, has been on a tear. But, is it enough to take out the undefeated prospect? We’ll see on December 16th.
Leon Edwards vs. Colby Covington is the headliner for the Welterweight Championship, with the co-main event being a Flyweight title fight between Alexandre Pantoja and Brandon Royval. Plus, Paddy Pimblett vs. Tony Ferguson, Stephen Thompson vs. Shavkat Rakhmonov, and now, Ian Garry vs. Vincente Luque make up the UFC 296 main card.
