Summer Game Fest reveals Doom: The Dark Ages – Revelations launches July 7

Summer Game Fest 2026, hosted by Geoff Keighley and Lucy James, concluded with over 100 game announcements and updates. The event, held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood from June 5-8, integrated news from the PlayStation State of Play, Xbox Games Showcase, and the PC Gaming Show.

While the showcase featured a broad range of titles, several major confirmed release dates stood out, providing a clear roadmap for players through the second half of 2026.

High-profile titles like Doom: The Dark Ages – Revelations and Halo: Campaign Evolved have secured spots in July, while September is emerging as a critical month for the industry. Developers are also preparing for a shifting hardware landscape, with several titles targeting the Nintendo Switch 2. This surge of news comes as many publishers seek to finalise their schedules before the end of the year.

The industry’s current focus on firm dates suggests a move toward greater predictability for consumers. This clarity is welcome as many sectors deal with a logistics shift toward resiliency over cost. For gaming, this translates to more reliable launch windows for both digital and physical editions of major software releases.

Doom and Halo lead a busy July slate

July 2026 will see the release of several highly anticipated sequels and ports. Doom: The Dark Ages – Revelations is scheduled for launch on July 7, 2026, and will be available on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Just two days later, Ubisoft Singapore will release Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced for the PS5.

The survival genre also remains a priority with Palworld 1.0 launching on July 10, marking its transition to a full release version.

Mid-summer also brings variety in gameplay styles. 11 bit studios’ The Alters: Last Variable is set for a July 13 release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. This will be followed by the release of Halo: Campaign Evolved on July 28. The title will surprisingly appear on PS5 alongside PC and Xbox Series X, continuing the trend of major franchises expanding to competing platforms.

August expansions and Star Wars reveals

August 2026 focuses on content expansions and established franchises. Mafia: The Old Country will receive the Man of Honor expansion on August 14, which adds two story chapters and exclusive content for the “Free Ride” mode.

Independent titles also get a boost during this period, with the full release of Montabi scheduled for August 6 on PC. A new demo for Montabi will be available during Steam Next Fest starting June 15.

The end of August is dominated by two notable releases on August 27. Star Wars Zero Company will launch for the PS5, with preorders already available and confirmation that Anakin Skywalker will appear in the game. On the same day, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy arrives for Xbox, PS5, and PC.

This title is described as an action-focused prequel to the second game in the franchise.

September 2026 becomes a critical launch window

September is currently the most crowded period for major game launches. Remedy Entertainment will release the action-RPG sequel Control Resonant on September 24 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. This title explores a paranatural version of Manhattan.

On the same day, Konami and Annapurna Interactive will launch Silent Hill: Townfall, a first-person horror experience that uses a portable TV set for navigation and combat clues.

  • Valheim 1.0 + Deep North: September 9 (PC, PS5, Switch 2, Xbox Series X)
  • RuneScape Dragonwilds: September 15 (First-ever Xbox Series X/S release)
  • Trine 6: Together In Time: September 17 (PC, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X)
  • Dune Awakening: September 22 (PlayStation 5 console debut)
  • Minecraft Dungeons 2: September 24 (PC, PS5, Switch, Switch 2, Xbox Series X)

September 24 also sees the release of Milestone’s Hot Wheels: Infinite Rush for $49.99 across almost all current platforms. Finally, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is scheduled for September 25. This intense cluster of dates suggests that while many titles are available at lower prices online during current sales, new full-priced releases will dominate the autumn conversation.

October launches and holiday remnants

The final quarter of 2026 is anchored by several diverse titles. October 6 marks the launch of Star Wars Galactic Racer on both consoles and PC. This is followed by Planet Zoo 2 on October 13 and Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse on October 15. For existing titles, Sega will release the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds DLC (Avatar) in October, though specific content details remain under wraps.

While November is currently quieter than usual, Wielders of the Essence is scheduled for November 5. A demo for the title is currently available for interested players. To round out the year, The Wolf Among Us Remastered is confirmed for a Holiday 2026 release window. This schedule gives players significant variety as they head into 2027.
