BREAKING: Smith vs Eubank Jr 2 Once Again Delayed, Eubank vs Benn Back On The Cards?

Smith vs Eubank Jr 2 Reportedly Once Again Delayed, Eubank vs Benn Back On The Cards?

– The July 1 Rematch Between Chris Eubank Jr And Liam Smith Will Be Once Again Postponed

– If Smith vs Eubank 2 Is Not Rescheduled, Frank Smith Hopes To Reach A Deal For Eubank Jr Benn Next

NoSmokeSport.com reported earlier this month that Liam Smith withdrew from his June 17 pay-per-view bout with Chris Eubank Jr due to a back injury.

An injury to Smith around the end of April meant that the Sky Sports Box Office main event fight was postponed to July 1.

The pair were supposed to collide for the second time at the AO Arena, Manchester after Smith sensationally stopped Eubank Jr in their January encounter but Matchroom’s CEO Frank Smith has now told Boxing King Media that he has heard that Smith vs Eubank 2 is off altogether.

“It’s a shame that the fight’s gonna be delayed again from July 1” Frank Smith told Boxing King Media

“It’ll be a great fight (Eubank vs Benn), it would be great to deliver the Eubank-Conor Benn fight.” Smith responded when asked if Matchroom would look to once again make Eubank-Benn if Smith-Eubank 2 did not take place on July 1.

Eubank Jr and Benn were set to collide on Oct 8 at London’s O2 Arena last year before a failed drugs test from Benn saw the bout scrapped. The pair were once again in negotiations to face off on June 3 but Eubank took the Smith rematch for less money after time was running out on finalising a deal.

With potentially two postponements of Smith Eubank 2, the son of British boxing legend Chris Eubank Sr may look to scrap the bout altogether and proceed with the far more lucrative bout with ‘born rival’ Benn.
