“It can do a million”, Hearn told SecondsOut, “It’s a big fight. It’s a mad world we live in where you’re only as good as your last fight. All of a sudden, everyone believes AJ could be the best Heavyweight in the world. ‘Could beat Fury, could do this’, there’s a lot more momentum behind him now.”
“Plus of course the Ngannou-Fury fight. One of the problems with the Ngannou-Fury fight was that no one believed he had a chance, I didn’t. Now people are saying ‘he might win (the AJ fight)’. You’ve got the MMA/boxing/casual world and a lot of believers in Francis Ngannou, so I think it’s gonna be a huge fight.”
AJ’s fights with Andy Ruiz (2) and Wladimir Klitschko are understood to have generated just under 1.2m PPV buys in the UK.
Fury’s fight with Ngannou generated around 70,000 buys in the US on ESPN + and 200,000 + buys worldwide on DAZN. Simon Jordan claimed the fight did 400,000 buys on TNT Sports in the UK, putting the total at around 700,000.
