Eddie Hearn on Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou ‘Exhibition’
Eddie Hearn revealed, “Yes, I believe so, this is what I’ve heard. It would be an exhibition apparently; no knockdowns or anything. I don’t know, I mean I’m only telling you what I’ve heard.” watching the interview it was clear to see disappointment over the rumored exhibition nature of the fight.
While speaking with Charlie Parsons, Eddie Hearn expressed his initial hope for a different match-up. “I wanted to see him fight [Oleksandr] Usyk. I feel like that undisputed championship – I mean we chased it for so long, you know, it’d be nice to get an undisputed champion,” said Hearn.
However, the promoter also acknowledged that the rumored Fury-Ngannou match-up has the potential to be a high-profile event. He commented, “It’s not bad; it’s a big event,” but reiterated his thoughts, that the undisputed fight between Fury and Usyk should be next.
Later on the topic Hearn seemingly acknowledges who is responsible for the fight with Ngannou possibly taking place, and not the fight with Usyk, saying that Tyson Fury’s control over his own career and decisions. “Look, Tyson’s in charge of his own career, and I’m sure he’s gonna make a load of money, and good luck to him,” Hearn stated.
The potential fight between Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou, if confirmed, would likely attract significant attention from both boxing and MMA fans. However, as Eddie Hearn pointed out, it also represents a diversion from the pursuit of an undisputed champion in the heavyweight boxing division.
