The highly-anticipated rematch between Anthony Joshua and Dillian Whyte was cancelled today after Whyte had an adverse analytical finding in a doping test in the lead-up to the pair’s August 12 rematch at London’s O2 Arena live on DAZN PPV.
“August 5, 2023 – Today, the Voluntary Anti-Doping Association (VADA) informed Matchroom, the Association of Boxing Commissions and the British Boxing Board of Control that Dillian Whyte had returned adverse analytical findings as part of a random anti-doping protocol.”
David Haye Reveals Derek Chisora Will Face AJ
David Haye has told Seconds Out that Derek Chisora was aware that this would be the case up to seven days ago and he is already training to face Joshua next Saturday.
“I got a call from Derek Chisora about a week ago telling me this exact thing would happen,” Haye told Seconds Out, “Derek told me that Dillian’s going to fail a drugs test.”
“He’s (Chisora) telling me he’s fighting AJ a week ago. Derek’s been training for that fight.”
Chisora has been using the same London Shootfighters team that assisted him in his training camp for Oct 2020 bout with Oleksandr Usyk, per Haye.
The former two-weight world champion believes that Chisora will give Joshua a good fight, contrary to most fans’ opinion. Haye believes that Chisora pushed Usyk further in their fight than Joshua did in 24 rounds.
“Chisora, that’s pay-per-view. He’s a PPV fighter, you’re gonna get a PPV performance. Roll him out one last time, you never know…”
