Daniel Dubois vs Filip Hrgovic Rumoured For June 1 in Saudi Arabia
- Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev meet for the undisputed light heavyweight title on June 1 in Saudi Arabia
- The undercard for the show will feature a 5 vs 5 completion between promoters, Matchroom and Queensberry
- Daniel Dubois vs Filip Hrgovic is expected to land on the show according to Hrgovic’s trainer Ronnie Shields
Filip Hrgovic is set to face British Heavyweight Daniel Dubois next – that is according to Hrgovic’s US-based trainer, Ronnie Shields.
Shields informed W.A.W. Boxing that he recently found out his charge, Hrgovic, would be facing Duobis on Saturday, June 1 in Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabia, alongside Matchroom Boxing, Queensberry Promotions and Top Rank, is expected to stage a Dmitry Bivol-Artur Beterbiev undisputed light heavyweight title fight on June 1 with 5 ‘Matchroom vs Queensberry’ fights on the undercard.
Although Hrgovic is technically a free agent, his fight with Dubois is expected to land on the 5 vs 5 as Matchroom’s selection of Heavyweights isn’t vast and the Croatian has fought the majority of his career with Matchroom.
Dubois and Hrgovic both had their last fights on the same card, a ‘Day Of Reckoning’ show on December 23 in Saudi Arabia where Dubois scored a final round stoppage against Jarrell Miller whilst Hrgovic easily dispatched Mark De Mori in the opening stanza.
Dubois vs Hrgovic would be a clash of top 10/15 Heavyweight contenders with the winner having a firm argument for a crack at the world title, it would be the second for Dubois after he fell short in Poland in his bid to dethrone Oleksandr Usyk in August. Hrgovic is the #1 challenger with the IBF.
