Sheffield’s British Super Lightweight champion Dalton Smith (14-0, 10 KOs) and Liverpool’s Commonwealth titleist, Sam Maxwell (17-1, 11 KOs) collide in a thrilling domestic battle this Saturday, July 1 at the Utlita Arena in Sheffield, England live on DAZN.
Smith headlined for the first time when he stopped Sam O’maison for the British title in their Yorkshire derby last August; 5,000+ fans were in attendance.
He has made two defences since, in Manchester against Kaisee Benjamin last November and in Nottingham with Billy Aillington in the opposite corner this February.
This marks his third and final title defence to win the Lonsdale belt outright and with two underwhelming performances in his last two fights, he will be hoping for a strong performance and a spectacular knockout in his return to Sheffield.
Maxwell, a solid domestic-level operator, previously controversially won the British title against Akeem Ennis Brown in 2021.
A shock defeat at the hands of Mexican Alejandro Meneses in 2022, however, has left the former Team GB member needing a big win in the away corner.
