Craig Richards Opponent Confirmed For Next Fight On Saturday, Feb 10 At London’s O2
- British Light Heavyweight hasn’t fought since narrow Buatsi defeat in May 2022
- Craig Richards next fight is set for this Saturday, Feb 10 at The O2 live on DAZN
- Sheeraz vs Williams Plus Anthony Yarde Back In Action Also At The Weekend
Former WBA title challenger Craig Richards (17-3-1, 10 KOs) will make his long-awaited ring return at Indigo at The O2 this Saturday, February 10, live worldwide on DAZN.
Richards hasn’t fought since suffering a tight 12-round points decision loss to unbeaten Joshua Buatsi in May 2022.
Despite being scheduled to face Latvia’s Ricards Bolotniks twice between November 2022 and April 2023, Richards was forced to withdraw from both fights due to injury and sit out the whole of 2023.
Immediately after capturing the British title with a stoppage over Shakan Pitters, the South Londoner challenged for Dmitry Bivol‘s light heavyweight championship in May 2021 proving himself in a respectable performance.
Craig Richards Opponent Is Game Scotsman Boris Crighton
Richards now looks to work his way towards a second world title shot.
And that journey begins against Scotland’s Boris Crighton (12-4, 7 KOs) on Saturday over ten rounds.
Crighton came in as a last-minute replacement to face Lyndon Arthur in March of last year, taking the former IBO champion the full ten-round distance in a very competitive fight where a crucial tenth-round knockdown might have been the difference (although the judges’ scorecards did not reflect that).
‘Blade’ took a shutout over the undefeated Wilmer Baron just three weeks later and many thought he was unlucky not to get the win over Steed Woodall eight days after that.
Top prospect Callum Simpson had an easier, but still competitive fight, with Crighton in July in his last significant fight, taking an 8-2/7-3 type decision.
