Callum Simpson Excited To Be Involved In “Explosive Fight” With Germaine Brown
- It has been confirmed that Callum Simpson will take the latest step in his quest for boxing stardom against the former English champion, Germaine Brown at York Hall.
- The Boxxer show will be live on Sky Sports and is topped by Caroline Dubois’ first attempt at a version of a world title – she takes on Magali Rodriguez for the IBO lightweight championship
Callum Simpson – A Blossoming Talent
Simpson has developed a reputation as one of the fiercest power punchers on the British boxing circuit.
He is conscious of this image and has confidence in his ability to uphold it, stating to NoSmokeSport before the Crighton fight that he ‘should be ploughing through the domestic scene.’
He has made his way up from catching the eyes of many boxing observers on the Northern small hall circuit, under the dutiful guidance of manager, Kevin Maree.
He has now elevated through the ranks of passionate pugilist devotees to the wider British public, with his two latest fights coming under the Sky Sports banner.
Domestic Demolition Path
Brown is the second consecutive British opponent that Simpson has faced, after he dominated Boris Crighton over 10 rounds back in July, on the Crews-Dezurn Marshall undercard.
He was unable to get Crighton out of there at the Manchester arena, which could be attributed to a combination of an over-eagerness to impress and the awkward durability of the Scotsman, who gave Lyndon Arthur a tough fight on 36 hour’s notice.
As expected, Crighton proved to be the hardest challenge of Simpson’s fledgling career to date. He managed to maintain his vicious combination-punching over the full distance and will need all the TNT in his arsenal once more, as he continues to move up the levels against Brown.
Germaine Brown – An Avenger Mission For Simpson
The ‘Barnsley Banger’ will be hoping to gain vengeance for Charlie Schofield, who lost his English title to Germaine Brown. Schofield was a stablemate of Simpson’s, before retiring after that defeat.
Germaine Brown has never been stopped in 15 fights and has just two defeats, coming against Zak Chelli and Ivan Zucco.
Familiar Settings For Brown
Brown himself is no stranger to the Sky Sports lights, having graced the broadcaster’s screens four times previously, all on shows promoted by Boxxer, including his career-highlight victory against Schofield.
He will also be very familiar with the settings for his fight with Simpson at the iconic York Hall, with his first seven fights having taken place at the iconic Bethnal Green location.
Callum Simpson’s Thoughts On The Fight
Callum Simpson made the following exclusive comment to NoSmokeSport on the fight with Germaine Brown.
“I’m excited to be involved in another good domestic matchup, I think our styles will gel well, both of us like to put the pressure on and fight on the front foot so it’s got all the makings for an explosive fight.”
Ben Shalom’s Thoughts On The Fight
“I can’t wait for this fight between Callum Simpson and Germaine Brown. A lot of insiders are predicting big things for Callum and he’s got a very tough test here. Brown is the former English champion and both of them go forward and look for the finish, so we might see an instant classic here.”
“BOXXER: Breakthrough events are about showcasing the best young talent in Britain and giving centre stage to the next generation of champions. The three bouts announced today are just the highlights of what will be an amazing card from top to bottom.”
