Frank Warren: Anthony Yarde Turned Down World Title Fight And Huge All-British Clash At Wembley

Anthony Yarde is in a legal dispute with his long-term promoter Frank Warren/Queensberry Promotions over their contract.

Yarde claimed in early April that he was a promotional free agent and exploring his options but this was rebutted by Warren’s Queensberry who believed that Yarde is still under contract with them.

The British light heavyweight turned down an offer from Queensberry to face Joshua Buatsi in a joint PPV with Sky Sports and TNT Sports Box Office.

Yarde-Buatsi has now been ordered by the WBO for their interim light heavyweight title although Yarde informed the WBO earlier this month that he is withdrawing from the negotiations, purse bid, and fight as he is in a ‘dispute resolution procedure’ with Queensberry over his contract.

Warren Says Anthony Yarde Turned Down Two More Big Fights

Frank Warren has now also revealed to Boxnation TV that Anthony Yarde has previously turned down a Dmitry Bivol world title shot for the December 23 ‘Day Of Reckoning’ card and a bout with Callum Smith on the rumoured Wembley Stadium show in September for ‘career-high paydays’, alongside withdrawing from the Buatsi fight.

Yarde hopes to resolve his contractual dispute with his promoter and become a free agent but it is unclear what his plans are after he achieves this.
