Latest Updates: Adam Azim Next Fight, Joshua Whyte 2 Undercard, Lerrone Richards, Okolie vs Billam-Smith 2 And MORE

Adam Azim Next Fight

Back-to-back injuries have kept Adam Azim out of the ring for far longer than he would’ve liked but a return date is now imminent with the Slough Super Lightweight back in the gym punching.

Azim (8-0, 6 KOs) will reschedule his WBA Continental, IBO International title fight with Ukraine’s Aram Faniian (22-1, 4 KOs), trainer Shane McGuigan has revealed to Boxing King Media.

Azim-Faniian is expected to headline a BOXXER/Sky Sports card in September.

Derek Chisora Aug 12, Joshua Whyte 2 Undercard Update

Heavyweight Derek Chisora (33-13, 23 KOs) will return to the ring on the Aug 12 Anthony Joshua-Dillian Whyte DAZN PPV undercard.

An opponent has not been confirmed for Chisora but in a recent interview, German Michael Wallisch (23-6, 16 KOs) confirmed that he has been offered the slot.

Wallisch is reluctant to take it due to a lack of notice and a recent injury but may well step up the plate with three weeks to go.

The mention of the German as an opponent has already seen criticism but there are other options for Chisora to face on the card.

According to Frank Smith (Boxing Social), Campbell Hatton, Maiseyrose Courtney and George Liddard will all return to action on the Joshua-Whyte prelims. Neither Fabio Wardley nor Ebanie Bridges will feature on the show.

Okolie vs Billam-Smith 2

WBO Cruiserweight champion Chris Billam-Smith has revealed to Boxing Social that Lawrence Okolie has activated the rematch clause in their contract.

Smith decisioned Okolie in their May Bournemouth fight after the former champion was knocked down three times and lost two points.

Commercially, an Okolie vs Billam-Smith rematch is not of high interest and financially it will struggle to work outside the Vitality Stadium.

Lerrone Richards EBU Shot

The former IBO, European, Commonwealth and British Super Middleweight champion, Lerrone Richards has been ordered to face France’s Daniel Blenda Dos Santos (21-1) for the European Light Heavyweight title.

Dos Santos’ sole notable fight was a fourth-round stoppage loss at the hands of Joshua Buatsi in May 2021.

EXTRA

Caoimhin Agyarko has turned down a fight with former British champion Troy Williamson next. Williamson accepted his part of the deal but Agyarko has requested an additional fight first, NoSmokeSport has learnt.
