Josh Kelly vs Roarke Knapp To Headline Wasserman Show On Dec 16 In Sunderland

  • Josh Kelly vs Roarke Knapp Agreed For Dec 16 In Sunderland
  • The Fight Will Headline A Wasserman Show Live On DAZN
  • Kelly Is The WBO #1 154-pounder And Closing In On A Title Shot

JOSH KELLY is back before the year’s out and he’s back on DAZN.

NoSmokeSport.com has learnt that the WBO’s #1 154-pounder will headline a Wasserman card on Saturday, December 16 at an undetermined venue in Sunderland.

Kelly (14-1-1, 7 KOs) returns to DAZN, where he scored a wide unanimous decision win over undefeated Argentine Gabriel Alberto Corzo in July.

It’s another international opponent for Kelly, this time in the form of South African puncher Roarke Knapp (17-1-1, 12 KOs).

International Boxing News was the first to break this story.

Knapp isn’t as unheralded as Corzo and should provide a much tougher test and Kelly moves closer to a shot at the Super Welterweight world title.

The Gauteng native scored a career-best win last time out, a fifth-round KO of Poland’s Przemyslaw Zysk, who extended Sam Eggington twelve competitive rounds last June.

The 25-year-old also holds wins over Brandon Thysse, Ahmed El Mousaoui and Mexican Dante Jardon in his last four fights alongside Zysk – marking a solid run of form.

Josh Kelly Must Win To Keep WBO Title Shot

Kelly is in line for a shot at the winner of Saturday’s clash between the WBO champion Tim Tszyu and WBC Interim titleist Brian Mendoza.

A win here is vital to keep his world title shot (and likely unified title shot) alive. Should Kelly decide to go another route, a Conor Benn or Chris Eubank Jr fight could also be made for the 2016 Olympian.

The Sunderland fighter has got four wins on the bounce since his 6th-round TKO loss to David Avanesyan in 2021.
