- The Spence vs Crawford PPV Buys Are Reported To Be At Lest 650k With The 675k Range Possible
Terence Crawford dominated and knocked out Errol Spence in round nine of their super-fight this Saturday in Las Vegas. Crawford dropped Spence three times, once in round two and twice in round seven before the referee Harvey Dock decided he’d seen enough in the ninth.
WBO champion Crawford became the first male fighter to win undisputed titles in two weight classes by taking Spence’s three unified welterweight titles in front of 20,000 fans at the T-Mobile Arena.
Spence-Crawford was boxing’s Super Bowl event, a match that fight fans had been waiting over five years to see and like Naoya Inoue-Stephen Fulton on Tuesday, it was completely one-sided.
The now once-beaten American has a rematch clause as part of the contract and may choose to invoke it, triggering a second fight between the pair potentially at the 154-pound limit.
Spence vs Crawford PPV Buys
Journalist Dan Rafael is reporting that the fight generated at least 650k domestic buys, with it quite possible to get to the 675k range.
Boxing Scene’s Jake Donovan hinted earlier in the week that the very early projections had the fight falling in the 650-780k range.
Spence-Crawford produced a $21 gate. Both fighters will make at least $25M apiece with Spence making slightly more.
NoSmokeSport.com used available data from YouTube/Twitter/Google/Instagram etc to compare pre-fight Spence-Crawford numbers to other Showtime PPVs and predicted a 600-700k buy range for the fight.
Stephen Espinoza told The DAZN Boxing Show that the projections for Spence-Crawford were in a similar range to that of Tank-Garcia.
“I projected 750-800”, Espinoza told Ak and Barak, “I’m looking somewhere around there hopefully. It would be a fantastic success”
