Naoya Inoue Reveals Luis Nery Fight Planned Next

Mexico’s Luis Nery is the WBC’s mandatory challenger and is expected to be Inoue’s next opponent in a fight planned for May.

Hideyuki Ohashi, the lead promoter for the Japanese superstar, revealed that more than 100,000 people registered for the opportunity to purchase tickets for his fight with Tapales with almost 90% missing out, so a venue upgrade is in the works.

Inoue’s last few fights have all taken place at the 12,000-capacity Ariake Arena but his next fight is expected to land at the 55,000-capacity Tokyo Dome – a venue which hasn’t hosted boxing since Buster Douglas’ astonishing 1990 upset of Mike Tyson.
