Following the conclusion of the 2024 New Japan Cup tournament, Yota Tsuji now holds the cup. The tournament took place over two weeks.

Tsuji successfully defeated Hirooki Goto in the finals on March 20 to achieve the feat. As a result, Tsuji will be the one to challenge Tetsuya Naito for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Sakura Genesis.

Throughout the tournament, Tsuji also gained wins over EVIL, Ren Narita, El Phantasmo, and Jeff Cobb. This marks Tsuji’s first championship in the promotion. Following the victory, Tsuji declared himself the face of the new era.
