New ROH Tag Team Champions Crowned On Dec. 27 Dynamite

New ROH Tag Team Champions were crowned on the December 27 edition of AEW Dynamite, which was the New Year’s Smash special.

The Devil’s Masked Men Are The New Champs

The December 27 edition of AEW Dynamite was a special one titled New Year’s Smash. The show featured several storylines ahead of the Worlds End PPV set to take place on Saturday, December 30.

The closing match on the show was set to witness AEW World Champion MJF teaming up with challenger Samoa Joe against The Devil’s Masked Men to defend the ROH World Tag Team Championship. Adam Cole is MJF’s tag team partner (and co-champion) but, due to an injury keeping Cole out of action, MJF has sought assistance from Joe in retaining the gold.

On Dynamite, Joe was seemingly attacked before the tag team match, prompting MJF to attempt to defend the titles alone in a handicap situation. The Devil’s Masked Men, although only two were in the match, had the numbers advantage on their side and used this to secure the victory.

With The Devil’s Masked Men winning the ROH World Tag Team Championship, the team became the 68th holders of the title. The crowning of the new ROH Tag Team Champions also ends Better Than You BayBay’s reign at 123 days.

Following the match, Joe came out to stop a post-match beatdown on MJF but it was soon revealed that, in some capacity, Joe was working with The Devil. Joe attacked MJF with a steel chair following an on-screen message from The Devil.

MJF is set to defend the AEW World Championship against Samoa Joe on Saturday, December 30 at the Worlds End PPV.
