NJPW Destruction in Ryogoku 2023 took place on October 9. The event featured 11 matches, with six of those being championship matches. Of the championship matches, two titles saw a change in hands.
El Phantasmo and Hikuleo, representing Guerillas of Destiny, successfully challenged for the Strong Openweight Tag Team Championship from the Bullet Club War Dogs’ Gabe Kidd and Alex Coughlin. This marks El Phantasmo and Hikuleo’s first reign with the titles, and they are the sixth team to hold the title.
Tama Tonga brought more gold to the Guerillas of Destiny camp by regaining the NEVER Openweight Championship in his match against David Finlay. This marks Tonga’s third reign with the championship.
SANADA successfully retained his IWGP Heavyweight Championship against EVIL in a lumberjack match for the main event. As a result, SANADA will defend the championship against Tetsuya Naito at WrestleKingdom 18 on January 4, 2024.
