Michael Venom Page Says A Wonderboy Thompson Fight Would Be Boring
Michael Venom Page has been the talk of the town since making a successful UFC debut this past weekend at UFC 299 against Kevin Holland. Page styled on Holland and picked up a unanimous decision victory. But, now, fans only want to see one matchup, which Page isn’t fond of.
Michael Venom Page vs Stephen Wonderboy Thompson Not Happening?
Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson is a guy that fans love. From being a genuine nice guy outside of the cage, to having a fan-friendly karate style when he’s in it, fans love the all-action Wonderboy. So, when the all-action MVP signed to the UFC, it was a no-brainer to match these guys up. Plus, both men are now coming off of wins against Kevin Holland, it seems like a perfect fit. But, MVP doesn’t think so.
Page spoke with SportsNet’s Aaron Bronsteter following his win and had this to say on the potential matchup; “You know what’s interesting – and I always tell this: A positive and a positive doesn’t always make a positive, because we are such similar-styled fighters, it could potentially be a boring fight because we’re going to be faking, we’re going to know so much. We’re going to be reading so much between each other, that only really elite athletes are going to look at it and be like, ‘Oh OK, I see what just happened’ … but nothing much is happening.”
“So I don’t actually think it’s going to be a great fight,” he concluded. “And I love that guy too much to want to kick him. I don’t know. We’re all prizefighters, so whatever happens, happens. But for right now, that’s not really a focus.”
Fans would be disappointed if the fight were to never happen, but, if Michael Venom Page thinks it would be boring, there’s only one way to find out!
