Khamzat Chimaev Vows To Make Paulo Costa Cry In The Cage

Khamzat Chimaev has been out of action since September of last year when he defeated Kevin Holland at UFC 279. Now, it’s been announced that the undefeated Khamzat will make his return on October 21, 2023 at UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi against Paulo Costa.

Khamzat Chimaev vs. Paulo Costa

Khamzat Chimaev was shown in the crowd live at UFC London this Saturday night, taking in the fights. While backstage, he was interviewed by TNT Sports who asked him about his upcoming fight with Paulo. “Good, feels good. Make that guy cry, you know, in the cage.” Chimaev said. The interview reiterated that he’s going to make him cry, to which Khamzat replied “Yeah, like I always do.”

It was mentioned that the 12-0 fighter has been out for nearly a year, and questioned what he’s been up to in that time. “I don’t know, I make everyone scared. So, (Kamaru) Usman said he’s boogeyman, all these guys think about me, so, when it comes to the fight, they have some surgeries, some problems, so, I don’t know. I’ll fight with anybody. Ask Dana White, I never said no, so I’m always ready, always.” Chamaev continued; “I’ve been long time out, I’ve been training all the time. When big money comes, man, its hard to make fights for me, so, you know.”

Khamzat Chimaev has been very vocal about how hard it is for him to get a fight because no one wants to fight him. So much so, that he’s moving from his typical Welterweight class to Middleweight for this fight. On moving weight classes, Khamzat said “I’ll fight all divisions. It doesn’t matter, actually, I’ve asked Dana White or who was it, Mick Manard, I don’t remember but somebody dropped out, I asked to fight with Glover for the title, but.” The interviewer shockingly questioned “At Light Heavyweight?” to which he replied “Yeah, when (Jiri) Prochazka got injured, I asked to fight for the title as well. It never happened. It will come, all my titles will come, so I’m ready for all divisions, it doesn’t matter for me. I can go down, I just need the time. Not like last time, gave me four weeks.”

We’ve been Khamzat Chimaev fight anyone at anytime in any weight division, and it seems that won’t stop any time soon. He put out a message; “If somebody wants to fight, it doesn’t matter.” But, before he can fight anyone else, he has to get past Paulo Costa in October. Then, he’ potentially eyeing up the middleweight champion Israel Adesanya for his next fight. “Of course, if he stays the champ, of. course he’s on my (mind), all champs are, it doesn’t matter. I just want my belts, at least three belts.”

Khamzat Chimaev has big goals for his UFC career, but he has one simple message for Paulo Costa; “Smash. Smash somebody, make some money, you know? I don’t know, to make that guy cry and go home, be in Brazil, nobody likes him. All Brazilians support me. That guy’s not Brazilian, so, going to go smash this guy and make him cry.”

Smash, get money and repeat is the motto of Khamzat ‘Borgz’ Chimaev. Will he continue his reign of dominance come October 21st at UFC 294? Only time will tell, but many fans are excited about the return of Khamzat ‘Borgz’ Chimaev and are hopeful that if this fight goes how he plans, we will be able to see him back in the cage as soon was possible.
