Youssef Khoumari And Reece Bellotti Set For Domestic Thriller On The Upcoming DAZN Schedule
According to the British Boxing Board of Control’s (BBBofC) latest circular, Wembely’s Youssef Khoumari (14-1-1, 5 KOs) and Watford-based Reece Bellotti (15-5, 13 KOs) will collide in an eliminator for the British super featherweight championship on a Matchroom/DAZN card.
Khoumari is 2-1 in his Matchroom fights, recording a stoppage win over Kane Baker and a closely contested decision victory over Vicente Martin Rodriguez. In his last appearance in Oct 2021, Khoumari suffered a tight majority decision loss to Jorge Castaneda.
The Londoner went back to winning ways with a points win over journeyman Eduardo Valverde in July and now gets another major opportunity. Khoumari’s style always makes for exciting fights so there’s no surprise that he’s been called back for another TV show.
Bellotti suffered three back-to-back defeats culminating in a third-round stoppage loss at the hands of Raymond Ford but bounced back with a late notice, away corner win over Dean Dodge last April to claim the Southern Area strap. Both have been relatively inactive and need a big win to rejuvenate their careers, the 32-year-old Bellotti who has lost five times before will go in as the underdog but he’ll be no stranger to that role.
The Lonsdale belt at 130 pounds is currently vacant and will be contested for by Alex Dilmaghani and Liam Dillon, who has a draw with Khoumari, on a Lee Eaton show this month at York Hall. The Khoumari vs Bellotti winner will be hoping to hoping to challenge for the belt later this year, however, it is not a final eliminator bout so this is not guaranteed.
Although no date/venue was given for the super featherweight eliminator, NoSmokeBoxing understands the likely place for this fight is on the undercard of Matchroom’s Sheffield bill on either April 15 or April 29. Terri Harper will defend her WBA Super Welterweight title against Cecilia Braekhus on this card, Ellie Scotney and Dalton Smith will feature as well.
