Katie Taylor-Chantelle Cameron Rematch Targeted For Nov 25 In Dublin
- Chantelle Cameron Beat Katie Taylor By Majority Decision In May
- Taylor Has Since Activated Her Contractual Rematch Clause
- Taylor vs Cameron 2 Is Reportedly Being Targeted For Nov 25
Chantelle Cameron (18-0, 8 KOs) retained her undisputed super lightweight championship for the first time when she upset the P4P #1 and female boxing’s biggest star, Katie Taylor (22-0, 6 KOs) in Taylor’s Ireland homecoming this May.
Cameron claimed a 95-95, 96-94, 96-94 majority decision win over Taylor. The Irishwoman has since activated her contractual rematch clause.
The pair are reportedly targeting their second fight to headline a DAZN fight card on Saturday, November 25 at the 9,000-capacity 3 Arena In Dublin, Ireland, according to International Boxing News.
Cameron exclusively revealed to NoSmokeSport in an interview that the rematch was looking likely for Ireland and for Cameron’s four 140-pound titles. “Unfortunately what I’m being told is that it’s in Dublin again, and it’s for my belts again”, Cameron told NoSmokeSport, “I think it’s all gonna be on Katie’s terms”.
Cameron wanted the chance to become a two-weight undisputed champion. Like Dmitry Bivol in the Canelo Alvarez rematch negotiations, the Northamptonian is happy to move down a weight class in the second fight to challenge for Taylor’s undisputed lightweight title.
The Undisputed champion also doesn’t want to come to Dublin again and would’ve liked the fight at a neutral venue. “It would be nice if we could go somewhere different and have the Rematch. I would like to have it a bit more neutral.”
Taylor vs Cameron 2 Undercard Reports
According to the outlet, Gary Cully will rematch Jose Felix on the Taylor vs Cameron 2 undercard. Felix pulled off a big upset when he knocked out Cully in their first fight on the Taylor-Cameron 1 undercard.
