SPOTLIGHT ON DIEGO PACHECO- Matchroom’s US rising star!

Rising star Diego Pacheco is back in action this Friday night against Manuel Gallegos. At only 22 years old, Pacheco already boasts an impressive professional record of 18 wins out of his 18 fights with 15 of these wins coming by way of knockout. But who is Matchroom’s new prospect?

Born in Los Angeles, California, Diego Pacheco is a hot prospect in boxing. His journey began at the tender age of 10 when he stepped into the ring for the first time. He quickly established himself as a formidable force in the sport, winning eight national championships.

Pacheco’s impressive record caught the attention of Eddie Hearn, and he signed with Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing USA in October 2018. He made his professional debut on December 22, 2018, in Tijuana, Mexico, with a first-round KO victory over Luis Carlos Gonzalez.

In 2019, Pacheco continued his winning streak, claiming victory in all seven of his fights, with six of those victories coming by way of KO. On December 7, 2019, he featured on the undercard of the highly anticipated Anthony Joshua vs Andy Ruiz Jr rematch in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Pacheco delivered a powerful right hand KO to defeat Selemani Saidi.

Pacheco’s success continued into 2020 when he defeated Oscar Riojas by a six-round unanimous decision on the undercard of Mikey Garcia vs. Jessie Vargas at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. In March of 2022, he added another win to his record with a second-round stoppage of Genc Pllana.

Pacheco’s ability to deliver big KO victories has helped him gain substantial recognition in the sport at only 22 years old. Standing at an impressive 6ft 4in, he now campaigns as a Super-Middleweight and continues to go from strength to strength under the guidance of Jose Benavidez Snr.

In 2022, Pacheco featured on two high-profile boxing cards, Canelo vs Golovkin 3 and Estrada vs Chocolatito 3, where he scored impressive KO victories. Last time out he made his UK debut in Liverpool where he stopped Jack Cullen after putting him down twice in the 4th round.

Pacheco has been tipped for World success from many boxing experts and is in action in Monterrey, Mexico where he meets Manuel Gallegos (19-1-1). The show is live on DAZN and bought to you by Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom.
