Jack Catterall Inks With Eddie Hearn After Josh Taylor Rematch Fallout

BOXXER/Sky Sports have been signing talent from the Matchroom stable ever since the beginning of their partnership in June 2021. The most recent of those was Joshua Buatsi who left less than amicably. And now Matchroom/DAZN have made their first retaliation.

NoSmokeSport.com has learnt that undisputed super lightweight title challenger, Chorley’s Jack Catterall (26-1, 13 KOs) is in the process of signing a multi-fight deal with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing that will see him fight on the DAZN platform moving forwards.

The Daily Star first reported this development. An official announcement is expected at a press conference on Friday.

Catterall inked with Ben Shalom’s BOXXER/Sky Sports last August to stage the Josh Taylor rematch but NoSmokeSport understands that with the fallout of that rematch, he has left Shalom and will sign with rival promoter Hearn.

The 29-year-old southpaw Catterall hasn’t fought since his heavily controversial split decision loss at the hands of Taylor for the undisputed Light Welterweight titles last February.

His return is expected on June 3 in Abu Dhabi with Conor Benn set to headline and Chris Eubank Jr the frontrunner to face him per The Sun. This outlet understands that Spain’s Sandor Martin (40-3, 13 KOs) is in the running to face Catterall on June 3.

Martin upset Mikey Garcia in Oct 2021 and suffered a controversial split decision loss to Teofimo Lopez last December. The Spanish southpaw is the WBC’s #1 rated contender with the potential to match Catterall against champion Regis Prograis later this year should he the fight with Martin materialise and he was to be successful.

Matchroom’s 140-pound stable also includes WBO #2 Liam Paro, Richardson Hitchins, Montana Love, Dalton Smith amongst others.
