Sheffield’s British Super Lightweight champion Dalton Smith (14-0, 10 KOs) and Liverpool’s Commonwealth Titleist, Sam Maxwell (17-1, 11 KOs) collide in a thrilling domestic battle this Saturday, July 1 at the Utlita Arena in Sheffield, England live on DAZN.

Smith headlined for the first time when he stopped Sam O’maison for the British title in their Yorkshire derby last August; 5,000+ fans were in attendance.

He has made two defences since, in Manchester against Kaisee Benjamin last November and in Nottingham with Billy Aillington in the opposite corner this February.

This marks his third and final title defence to win the Lonsdale belt outright and with two underwhelming performances in his last two fights, he will be hoping for a strong performance and a spectacular knockout in his return to Sheffield.

Maxwell, a solid domestic-level operator, previously controversially won the British title against Akeem Ennis Brown in 2021.

A shock defeat at the hands of Mexican Alejandro Meneses in 2022, however, has left the former Team GB member needing a big win in the away corner.

Smith vs Maxwell Undercard

Hopey Price (10-0, 3 KOs) and James Beech Jnr (15-4, 2 KOs) collide for the vacant WBA Continental Featherweight Title.

NoSmokeSport.com was ringside for Beech’s most recent contest in March when Nathaniel Collins produced a punch-perfect performance against Beech resulting in a 7th-round body shot knockout.

Price will struggle to better, or even match, that display but Beech is battle-hardened and a solid domestic-level test for the 23-year-old Leeds southpaw.

A first professional title could await 2020 Olympic silver medallist Pat McCormack (4-0, 3 KOs) against the former Welsh champion Tony Dixon (14-4, 4 KOs) as the pair meet for the WBA Continental Super Welterweight championship.

McCormack had his first two bouts under Probellum before inking with Matchroom last October. He has produced two somewhat underwhelming performances against negative, tough opponents and now hopes to display an impressive masterclass and a highlight-reel knockout that will push his name up the list of the best prospects in the country.

Brazilian amateur star Beatriz Ferreria (2-0, 1 KO) meets Mexico’s Karla Ramos Zamora (10-9-1, 3 KOs) in an eight-round Super-Featherweight contest.

Zamora stopped Jessica Camara inside four rounds in her last contest. Many felt Camara did enough to beat Kali Reis in their 2021 unified title fight.

A big step up for Ferreria but there is a lot of confidence in her ability as the Brazilian is seen as not only one of the best prospects in women’s boxing but the heir to Alycia Baumgardner’s 130-pound throne.

Hull’s Lewis Sylvester (11-0, 3 KOs) and Hartlepool’s Adam Cope (7-0, 1 KO) contest the vacant English Lightweight Title.

Sylvester and Cope, undefeated domestic talents colliding not only for a championship but regular TV slots, is the kind of 50-50 fight we often miss in British boxing.

Junaid Bostan (5-0, 5 KOs) steps up against Midlands Area Champion Ryan Amos (11-0) over eight rounds at Super Welterweight.

Mansfield Super-Bantamweight Nico Leivars (3-0-1) fights Madrid’s Alberto Motos (4-0) over six rounds.

Yorkshire’s Cory O’Regan (9-0, 1 KO) takes on Jordan Ellison (14-47-3, 1 KO) in a six-round Lightweight contest to kick off the evening’s action.
