Shields vs Marshall 2 Rematch Destined For The PFL
- Claressa Shields BEAT Savannah Marshall in their Women’s undisputed title fight in 2022
- The pair were expected to rematch but their second encounter could now head to MMA
- Fabio Wardley vs Frazer Clarke Contract Has A Rematch Clause With A SPECIFIC Term
Shields vs Marshall 2 looks destined to happen BUT in an entirely different sport.
2x undisputed champion Claressa Shields will return to MMA on February, 24 on the PFL vs Bellator champions card.
Shields, who is 1-1, faces Kelsey Desatnis (1-2) on the DAZN prelims. The American has struggled to land meaningful fights in boxing and so has decided to challenge herself in another sport.
Her boxing rival, Savannah Marshall, will also be competing in the PFL on a DAZN show in Newcastle likely in June after the reigning unified champions’ March date for a bout in the squared circle doesn’t look to be coming to fruition.
Shields vs Marshall 2 MMA Bound?
With both Shields and Marshall under the same promotional banner, it seems inevitable that we get a fight between the pair in MMA.
When Marshall announced her signing with the PFL, she made it clear that a second encounter with her braggadocious American counterpart was the goal. “The thing that really drew me to this journey was a massive fight with Claressa Shields. The thought of kicking her in the…I cannot stand her.”
The rivalry has been built up for several years and although there isn’t as much interest to see a rematch in boxing due to the convincing nature of Shields’ win in their fight, a rematch in a completely new sport could be appealing for the fighters, the fans and PFL as a company; a business which is looking to make noise in the MMA market after it’s acquisition of Bellator.
