Boxing Betting Tips: Lara By KO, And A Points Double On Friday

This weekend sees two shows on mainstream broadcasts in the UK. On Friday night, Frank Warren’s Queensberry Promotions will take a card to the York Hall, Bethnal Green. The card will be headlined by heavyweight David Adeleye, challenging for the vacant WBO European Heavyweight Title against unbeaten Dmytro Bezus.

From a betting perspective though, I will be looking towards the chief support for some value. Mark Chamberlain (11-0 7KOs) faces off against the durable Italian, Vairo Lenti (10-4 1KO). My pick for this fight is Mark Chamberlain to win on points, available at odds of 12/5 (BET365) at the time of writing. Lenti, despite his 3 losses has never been stopped and Mark Chamberlain’s previously displayed power has seemed to wain as he has moved up in levels. This points towards 12/5 being great value.

Also on the card, Henry Turner makes a defence of his WBC International Silver Title against Zeus de Armas. Although scoring an impressive stoppage win last time out Turner had not shown huge levels of power before the victory in the Middle East. Coming into this fight having only 2 stoppages in his 9 wins. Therefore odds of 6/5 (BET365) on Turner to win on points seems a good price.

On Saturday night, a hotly anticipated showdown for the WBA Featherweight World Title will happen in Nottingham between Leigh Wood and Mauricio Lara. The fight promoted by Eddie Hearn for Matchroom Boxing, live on Dazn, seems to be very competitive, therefore there will be value in the betting markets.

My pick for this fight will be Mauricio Lara to win by stoppage in rounds 1-6. At odds of 13/10 (BET365). Lara has shown vicious KO power of Late, Stopping his opponents inside 3 rounds in his last two outings. Leigh Wood was also badly hurt early in his last fight against Irishman Michael Conlan last March. This points to Lara being able to get the job done early.

Picks for the weekend’s action*

Mark Chamberlain to win on points – 12/5

Henry Turner to win on points – 6/5

Mauricio Lara to win in rounds 1-6 – 13/10

*All prices taken from BET365 at the time of writing
