Liverpool Super-Bantamweight Peter McGrail (8-1, 5 KOs) was scheduled to get an immediate shot at redemption against Detroit’s Ja’Rico O’Quinn (17-1-1, 9 KOs).
The former amateur star was cruising to a wide points decision on the Jesse ‘Bam’ Rodriguez vs. Sunny Edwards card in Arizona, USA last month when O’Quinn finished his opponent with a brutal right hand in the fifth round.
O’Quinn has, however, withdrawn from the bout and McGrail will now instead face Marc Leach (18-3-1, 4 KOs) at the top of an NXTGEN card on home soil at the Exhibition Centre Liverpool on Saturday, April 27 live on DAZN.
McGrail vs Leach Undercard
In the co-feature, Amateur star Beatriz Ferreira (4-0, 2 KOs) challenges for her first world title, the IBF strap against Yanina del Carmen Lescano (14-3, 4 KOs).
Ferreira was ordered to face Caroline Dubois for the vacant belt but Dubois forfeited her position to fight for the world title as did Jelena Janicijevic, so Ferreira will face Argentina’s Lescano.
Rotherham super welterweight Junaid Bostan (8-0, 6 KOs) steps up to face the Southern Area champion Jack Martin (9-1, 4 KOs) in a final eliminator for the English title and the Commonwealth Silver belt.
Bostan made his US debut last time out, winning a hardly-fought eight-round decision over fellow unbeaten Gordie Russ II. Martin is coming off three good wins against domestic opposition; Shaquille Day, Ryan Maycock and 14-0 CJ Challenger – the last two inside the distance.
2020 Olympic silver medallist Pat McCormack is back in action after being sidelined for nine months due to an injury. McCormack (5-0, 4 KOs) challenges for his first title against Williams Andres Herrera (16-3, 7 KOs), who gave Paddy Donovan a competitive fight back in January.
Maisey Rose Courtney (5-0), Joe McGrail (9-0), Frankie Stringer (6-0) and Hamza Uddin complete the card with opponents to be confirmed.
