Jorge Masvidal Targets 2024 For Boxing Debut

Jorge Masvidal is the former UFC BMF Champion and welterweight championship challenger. After retiring from MMA last year, Masvidal has opened up his own promotion, Gamebred Fighting Championship, which is Bare Knuckle MMA. Now, it seems Masvidal is getting the itch to step back into the fighting world, but this time in a boxing ring.

Jorge Masvidal To Make Boxing Debut

Thursday, Jorge Masvidal spoke with ESPN, saying that he is targeting a boxing match “early next year.” He mentioned; “No names right now, but I can tell you it’s early next year, and I can tell you somebody is going to get killed,” Technically, Jorge Masvidal is still under contract with UFC, so, he’d need to ask permission to having a boxing bout. But, with his UFC career past him, UFC would most likely oblige and allow Masvidal to step into the ring next year.

Masvidal mentioned that his motivation for boxing was amped up after seeing KSI vs. Tommy Fury and Logan Paul vs. Dillon Danis because it was a “disrespect to boxing.” Masvidal went on to say he wants Logan to pay him back for not finishing Danis. “Logan didn’t f–king knock [Danis] dead,” Masvidal said. “I really wanted Logan to knock him dead. So I’m kind of mad at Logan. I hope he sends me my money back, you know? Not that I paid for it, but still.”

If Jorge Masvidal were to step into the boxing ring, he’d be following the footsteps of two of his MMA opponents that he defeated in Ben Askren and Nate Diaz, who both lost to Jake Paul. Previously, Jorge seemingly had interest in also fighting Jake, but it’s unclear who his opponent will be for his debut. We will keep you updated.
