ADVERSE ANALYTICAL FINDING – There’s one every week. Boxing has been rife with doping scandals in the last twelve months with a dozen failed tests uncovered across the world including numerous high-profile athletes in major bouts.

It has been one of the hottest topics in boxing, especially in the last six weeks with the shocking statistics behind UKAD testing, the lack of VADA in a PPV event (Smith-Eubank 2) and Matchroom sending out a famous template every week with a different boxer’s name on it.

Last year, in the notorious doping case with British boxing star Conor Benn, an interesting interview with Dr Usman Sajjad was uncovered by NoSmokeBoxing where the doctor claimed that around 80-90% of high-level boxers were on PEDs.

It seemed like an exaggeration at the time but that number has become much more believable in the last year or so.

Jeff Powell’s Shocking Claim

Daily Mail sports writer Jeff Powell, who has written about boxing for more than 50 years, believes that certain UK gyms could be part of the problem.

“There are suggestions that there are one or two prominent gyms in this country which are pushing their fighters to take substances,” Jeff Powell told Boxing King Media

It is a shocking claim from the veteran journalist and although he would not name any gyms, accusations like this one have been made in the past.

Certain gyms like the ones accused in the above media have been accused of providing fighters with PEDs. These claims are completely unsupported, though.
