Jake Paul Set To Face Nate Diaz For His Anticipated Ring Return
Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz has been announced officially by Most Valuable Promotions.
Jake Paul, who last fought Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia on February 26th and lost a points decision, has announced his ring return against Nate Diaz for August 5th on DAZN PPV globally.
It was speculated that the rematch between Paul and Fury would happen after Jake’s loss, but it has now turned out that they will both be going in seperate directions… for now.
Nate Diaz last fought Tony Ferguson on September 11th last year, He won the bout by submission in round 4. Although the time between fights is not ideal, Nate Diaz is susceptible to being cut badly in fights causing some of his bouts to be stopped by his corner or ringside doctor. With the long break between fights, his scar tissue will have longer time to heal which could prevent any sort of injuries from happening in the bout with Jake Paul.
Nate Diaz has also previously fought Conor Mcgregor and won, which allows Jake to play up that angle if he beats the former UFC contender as he has previously spoken about wanting to fight Mcgregor in the ring. Nate Diaz has been mentioned alongside Jake Paul’s name many times when possible fights have been discussed, and now finally gets his shot at the star.
However, this time it will not be the opportunity to be the first man to beat Jake Paul, but be the first MMA fighter to beat Jake Paul. Jake Paul and Nate Diaz have had multiple back-and-forths online before, and at Jake Paul’s last fight in the USA, against former UFC champion Anderson Silva, their teams had an altercation in the arena. This is just one of many things that has led up to this fight happening
Jake and Nate’s thoughts on their upcoming fight
Jake Paul stated the following on his upcoming fight with Nate Diaz: “My last fight didn’t end the way I wanted, but the result was the best thing that could have happened to my professional boxing aspirations. Now, the world thinks I am vulnerable, when all I am is more focused than ever. My team wanted me to take an easy fight like KSI next, but that’s not how I am built. Nate Diaz is considered one of the most bad-ass fighters of all time, but he and his team have been running their mouths for too long”.
Whereas Nate Diaz said: “Besides Canelo he’s the biggest thang in boxing. I’m here to conquer that. I’m the King of combat sports and then I’m headed back to get my UFC belts,” He also said: “I f—ed up Conor for acting out and now here I am again, like a Super Hero of the Real Fight game, the King of the Real Fight game”.
Possible undercard fights
As with previous Jake Paul undercard fights, we will be expecting a mixture of traditional pro-boxing fights alongside influencer boxing fights. One fight that could be featured on the undercard is a bout between the current undisputed female super middleweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn and Shadaisa Green.
Green is represented by Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions and has recently been ordered by the WBC to fight for Crews-Dezurn’s WBC title. Winning the fight would crown her undisputed. This card would be the perfect spot for the fight to take place as it gives Green the exposure she’d need to become a larger star in the spot and possibly give her the opportunities at larger fights in the future.
Similar to how Jake Paul put Amanda Serrano on his undercards to allow her to have more negotiation leverage in her fight with Katie Taylor. Shadaisa Green is MVP’s latest signing so getting her a spot on a card like this would be great.
