Jack Catterall vs Devin Haney Next? Must Win In Thriller Against Rival Taylor This Saturday

In a recent interview, uploaded to the Matchroom YouTube channel, Eddie Hearn delves into this weekend’s fight between ‘The Tartan Tornado’, Josh Taylor, and ‘El Gato’, Jack Catterall, in the card billed as ‘Hate Runs Deep’. He spoke of possible opponents if Catterall gets past Taylor, including the potential for Jack Catterall vs Devin Haney.

This Saturday, Jack Catterall will face Josh Taylor for their much-anticipated rematch after what many fans saw as the biggest robbery on the scorecards in recent times when Taylor was awarded a split decision victory over the Chorley man in February, 2022.

Eddie Hearn shared his prediction for the Taylor vs Catterall 2 fight

Catterall is seeking to avenge this loss, the only one on his record of 28-1, and is coming off a win over former world champ Jorge Linares, whilst Taylor will be looking to prove a point, having come off a recent loss against Teofimo Lopez in June 2023, the first of his career (now 19-1).

Hearn states in the interview that he’s expecting a ‘tear up’ in what he says will be ‘The biggest British fight of the year’, labelling it ‘A real great statement for British boxing’.

When asked for his prediction, Hearn commented, ‘I think a lot of people feel that if you’re backing Jack Catterall you back him on points in this fight but I actually like the stoppage for Jack Catteral for the reason, because I think it’s going to be a hot-headed fight.’

Jack Catterall vs Devin Haney?

Elsewhere in the interview, Hearn is asked what might come next for Catterall if he gets through the Scotsman on Saturday night, with Hearn suggesting an array of possible opponents. He said, ‘You’ve got Subriel Matias fights Liam Paro coming up, Jack could fight the winner of that,’ continuing, ‘even without a world title he could fight a Regis Prograis or another big fight in America, Richardson Hitchins’.

He finally went on to say, ‘You’ve got Devin Haney, he’ll fight Sandor Martin probably this summer, winner could fight the winner of Taylor v. Catterall’. Devin ‘The Dream’ Haney is coming off a recent defeat against Ryan Garcia, the first loss of his career.
