Eddie Hearn On Ryan Garcia Oscar De La Hoya Beef, “They Need To Get Away From Each Other, It’s So TOXIC”

Ryan Garcia goes into his fight tonight with Oscar Duarte with a huge chip on his shoulder as the young star believes his promoters Oscar De La Hoya and Bernard Hopkins are backing his opponent to get the victory.

The Ryan Garcia Oscar De La Hoya beef has been casually brewing for the last couple of years and Garcia’s lawsuit against GBP a couple of months ago has led to a very public fallout.

The Garcia-Duarte fight week press conference is the biggest example of that. Garcia was taking shots at his promoter De La Hoya with the legendary boxer a few feet behind Garcia making very descriptive facial expressions.

Hopkins decided to stand on Duarte’s side during the face-to-face and was publicly willing him on despite Ryan Garcia being Golden Boys’ biggest star.

Hearn Weighs In On The Ryan Garcia Oscar De La Hoya Beef

Promoter Eddie Hearn was asked to weigh in on the matter by Happy Punch.

“It’s absolutely mental. Can you imagine me tweeting about one of my fighters, ‘I’m very concerned about their mental health’, two days before their fight and standing behind my fighter (at the press conference) going (face in Palm)?”

“You can’t let a fighter go through that kind of stuff when they’re about to go in and risk their life in the ring They need to get away from each other, it’s so toxic.”

“You can’t work like that, it’s a dangerous enough sport as it is without your own promoter questioning your mental health two days out from the fight. It’s a shambles.”

“They’re (De La Hoya and Hopkins) goading him at the press conference, it’s his fighter. I’ve never seen anything like it, they just need to get together in a room, do a deal and walk away.”
