Haney vs Lomachenko UK TV Channel, Date And Preview

24-year-old American Devin Haney (29-0, 15 KOs) defends his undisputed lightweight title against the three-weight world titleist and former unified champion, Ukraine’s Vasyl Lomachenko (17-2, 11 KOs) this Saturday, May 20 at the 17,000-capacity MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, USA live on ESPN pay-per-view and Sky Sports.

Haney convincingly outpointed Australian George Kambosos Jr twice in 2022 to unify the four belts and then make a successful first defence in their rematch last October. ‘The Dream’ now makes the second, and most likely final, defence of his belts with an expectation that he will move up to 140 if he is successful on Saturday, and does so as a promotional free agent.

The Las Vegas-based Haney also has a rematch clause in the event that the Ukranian can ‘turn back the clock’ and upset the odds in the early hours of Sunday morning in Las Vegas. Lomachenko had only one the bout in 2022, an underwhelming display against unbeaten Jamaine Ortiz.

Lomachenko and Haney were supposed to meet back in 2020 but the Ukrainian controversially accepted the WBC’s Franchise title which allowed him to pursue an in-house matchup with Teofimo Lopez instead whilst Haney was made WBC champion.

Haney is the betting favourite but Loma is by far the best fighter he has faced in terms of technical ability, pedigree and variety in his arsenal, with many in the trade seeing it as 50-50.
