Mexico’s former WBA Featherweight champion Erika Cruz Hernandez (15-2, 3 KOs) will reportedly return to the ring on a Matchroom-promoted card in Mexico on Friday, September 15 live on DAZN.

Cruz, who last fought in a fight of the year contender with Amanda Serrano for the Undisputed title in February, is rumoured to take on the USA’s Melissa Oddessa Parker (6-1, 2 KOs). Parker is promoted by Lou DiBella who struck a deal with Matchroom for the fight.

This is according to LDUBB Boxing.

NoSmokeSport.com has learnt that Matchroom’s show on this date will be headlined by exciting 24-year-old Lightweight contender Angel Fierro (21-2, 17 KOs), who is the WBO’s #4 135-pounder and closing in on a world title shot.

A venue and opponent for Fierro have not been finalised.

Cruz lost her WBA title in a four-belt unification with Puerto Rican Serrano. The fight is the frontrunner for female FOTY in 2023 with many regarding it a foregone conclusion going in but it ended in a highly-competitive affair.

Parker was seen in action just days ago when she suffered a controversial majority decision loss to Shurretta Metcalf in Frisco.

Where Would A Win Put Erika Cruz?

Should Cruz emerge victorious she would put herself in contention for some interesting fights around 126/130 which could include a Serrano rematch, Alycia Baumgardner, or emerging prospects Beatriz Ferreira and Skye Nicholson – all of whom are signed with Eddie Hearn/Matchroom or fight regularly on DAZN.
