Dubois vs Rodriguez Undercard CONFIRMED

  • Caroline Dubois Headlines For The First Time In Her Career
  • 22-year-old Lightweight Tops BOXXER Show At York Hall
  • Viddal Riley, Callum Simpson On Dubois vs Rodriguez Undercard

Caroline Dubois  (7-0, 5 KO’s) and Mexican veteran Magali Rodriguez (22-6-4, 9 KO’s) clash for the  IBO Lightweight Championship in the main event of a BOXXER: Breakthrough event on Saturday, September 30th at London’s 1200-capacity York Hall, live on Sky Sports.

Dubois has been calling out Mikaela Mayer but Mayer looks to be moving up to 147 and challenge for a title there. ‘Sweet Caroline’ progressed to contender status with a conclusive win in June and now must keep active and her name in the spotlight as she plots a route to a world title.

Rodriguez, who drew to Estelle Mossely last time out, should be a similar level for Dubois as Lescano was.

The Mexican has lost six times before and drawn on four different occasions including journeywoman Karla Ramos Zamora in December, who Dubois rival Beatriz Ferriera dominated in July.

Dubois hopes to be the first person to beat Rodriguez in five years and the third to stop her as she fights the championship distance for the first time.

Dubois vs Rodriguez Undercard

Viddal Riley vs Nathan Quarless

Internet sensation Viddal Riley (9-0, 6 KOs) and Liverpool’s Nathan Quarless (12-0, 0 KOs) will collide in a battle of undefeated fighters for the English Cruiserweight title.

After starting his career in North America with Mayweather Promotions, Riley signed with BOXXER in 2022 and went 3-0 in six-round contests.

The 26-year-old has recorded back-to-back, fourth-round inside-the-distance wins over Anees Taj this year and now steps up to ten rounds into his first title fight.

Merseyside’s Quarless has come up through the small hall route under the guidance of Steve Wood’s VIP Promotions.

The 27-year-old has never boxed outside of Liverpool or scored a stoppage victory in his twelve wins.

Quarless’ only notable win came in Nov 2021 when he convincingly beat Steve Collins Jr in an 8-round contest.

Callum Simpson vs Jose De Jesus Macias

Callum Simpson (12-0, 9 KOs) was supposed to face Germaine Brown (13-2, 4 KOs) on this card but Brown withdrew from the bout with an injury.

Mexican Jose De Jesus Macias (28-12, 14 KOs) will step in to replace the injured Brown on nine days notice.

Macias has only been stopped one time in twelve defeats but has fought as low as 155 in the last three years although his last two fights have been at the 168 limit.

Simpson was considered the best under-the-radar talent in the UK by NoSmokeSport before he signed with BOXXER earlier this year.

The Barnsley man was extended the distance by Boris Crighton last time out and after ten valuable rounds, he now faces former English champ Brown, who suffered a 99-91×3 defeat to Italian prospect B Zucco in March.

Stephen McKenna vs Darren Tetley

Big punching Irish Welterweight Stephen McKenna (13-0, 12 KOs) meets England’s Darren Tetley (22-4, 9 KOs).

Bradford southpaw Tetley went back to winning ways with a four-round decision over Richard Helm earlier this year after losing to Dom Hunt last September for the Central Area title.

McKenna is in need of a big step up and an opponent that brings interest and he looks to have finally found it. Pundits won’t give Tetley much chance in this fight but it is an opportunity for McKenna to replicate his power against a notable and normally-durable opponent.

Jeamie TKV vs Igor Macedo

29-year-old Heavyweight Jeamie Tshikeva (5-0, 3 KOs), better known as Jeamie TKV, also returns to action in an 8-round Heavyweight contest against late-replacement Brazilian Igor Macedo (11-1, 11 KOs)

Germany’s Emir Ahmatovic (12-2, 9 KOs) was supposed to be the opponent but withdrew with an injury on fight week.

Macedo was stopped in the final round in his only defeat – a 2021 loss to Sergey Kuzmin.

Other Fights

Francesca Hennesy, the daughter of boxing promoter Mick Hennesy, will make her professional debut over four rounds taking on journeywoman Sonia Klos (1-8).

Roman Fury, the cousin of Tyson Fury, will make a third professional appearance.
