Dominic Ingle Believes A Conor Benn Fight Is Bigger For Kell Brook Than Chris Eubank Jr., Ingle Not Interested In Eubank vs Brook

  • Kell Brook Mentioned As Potential Next Opponent By Eubank In The Ring
  • Ingle Not Interested In Brook vs Eubank, Insists Conor Benn Is The Fight

CHRIS EUBANK JR avenged Liam Smith with a tenth-round stoppage win at Manchester’s AO Area last Saturday.

Smith stunningly stopped Eubank Jr in four rounds back in January. The fourth round was pivotal in their rematch, however, this time in favour of Eubank Jr, who dropped the Liverpudlian with a brilliantly-placed right uppercut.

The son of British boxing legend Chris Eubank Sr dominated the fight before the referee saved Smith in the tenth round from further punishment – a fight that should’ve been stopped three rounds earlier.

A multitude of options are available for Eubank, who headlined on Sky Sports Box Office for the second time but is now a network-free agent.

Should he wish to challenge for a Middleweight title, the winner of the Oct 14 unification fight between Janibek Alimkhanuly and Vincenzo Gualtieri could be a viable option.

With Jermall Charlo and Erislandy Lara both aligned with Al Haymon’s PBC and a Canelo Alvarez fight looming for Charlo, those two titleholders seem unlikely options for Eubank.

A GGG fight could also be explored as a non-title option probably at 168. But the biggest fight available is obviously British boxing star Conor Benn.

With UKAD/BBBofC appealing an NADP verdict which ruled in favour of Benn, the availability of the former top 10 Welterweight to fight in the UK is unknown, so other options have been mentioned.

One name that is still on the horizon seems to be Kell Brook.

Dominic Ingle On Chris Eubank Jr vs Kell Brook

“Kell Brook’s never going to be ready to fight in December.” Ingle clarified to Boxing King Media amid rumours that Eubank could return to the ring one more time in 2023 or Benn could face Brook in December as suggested by Eddie Hearn.

“I don’t even think Kell’s gonna fight again. It’s got to be something that really fires him up and really interests him.”

Ingle and Brook have stated numerous times that Brook would only come out of retirement for a massive fight, one that really tempts him.

“I think the Conor Benn one does… maybe that’s a bigger fight for Kell.”

Ingle believes that Conor Benn could be a bigger fight for Kell Brook than Chris Eubank Jr and a more intriguing fight.

This comes as little surprise as Eubank and Benn were considered very equal in drawing power before their dream matchup was announced last year and with all the controversy surrounding Benn, a fight with him may well be bigger than a fight with Eubank for Brook.

“I think I said that’s the only fight I’d be interested in at the time, I wasn’t particularly interested in the Eubank one.”

Ingle maintains that he would only be interested in seeing Brook come out of retirement for Benn and not Eubank Jr. It was a similar statement from seven months ago when the idea of Liam Smith vs Brook was touted, Benn seems to be the only fight big enough to interest Brook’s trainer Ingle.
