Canelo vs Munguia Mexican Super Fight Set For May 4 In Las Vegas Live On PPV

Canelo Alvarez will defend his undisputed super middleweight title against Jaime Munguia on May 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas live on DAZN and Amazon Prime Video PPV.

Canelo Promotions will present the event with the PBC, Zanfer Promotions and Golden Boy Promotions.

Alvarez famously split with the PBC around two weeks ago but his next fight will be under their banner, as part of a one-fight deal.

Canelo vs Munguia: Mega Fight But Not The One Boxing Fans Wanted?

Most boxing fans wanted to see boxing’s bona fide star square off against David Benavidez but that won’t be next. Canelo instead faces another Mexican on Cinco De Mayo Weekend as Benavidez looks towards a fight with Oleksandr Gvozdyk, another member of the Canelo team, for the WBC interim light heavyweight title.

Alvarez (60-2-2, 39 KOs) unified the titles with an eleventh-round KO of Caleb Plant in Nov 2021. After dropping a decision to Dmitry Bivol, he has made three successful defences of the four belts.

Undefeated Munguia (43-0, 34 KOs) is the #1 contender with the WBO and WBC and produced an impressive stoppage of John Ryder in January, going one better than Canelo who battled to a decision win over England’s now-retired Ryder.
